Weather on the Bulgaria's Black Sea coast in September

The Bulgarian Black Sea coast is a fantastic place. It has both hotel-heavy resorts, quiet villages and virgin beaches. There is something for every taste here! The temperate climate on the Black Sea coast will enhance every tourists’ experience.

The climate is dry overall, but on some days the winds can bring lots of humidity from the sea. September does not get much rainfall and is usually a continuation of the summer season. There is a temperature rise trend in recent years – it seems to go up lately by 1 - 2°C  a year. The good thing is that the maximum temperatures of 29 - 32°C (as shown in the table below) can be experienced throughout the majority of September.

What’s the best time in September to plan a visit to Bulgaria’s coast?

A vast number of people prefer to go on a summer vacation in September. By doing so, they can escape the burning heat but still experience the summer season. Another reason for this choice is the reduced number of tourists and vacationing locals in September. The beaches are hotter and fuller in June, July, and August, while September is the best month for a calm vacation at the Black Sea coast.

The first ten days of September are the best for a holiday. Temperatures will be similar to the summer season, only a few degrees lower. Temperature changes will be felt mostly on the northern coast, with the southern Black Sea coast having slightly warmer weather.

Weather conditions on the Bulgarian coast in September

The weather conditions in September are excellent for resting on the beach and hiking amidst beautiful Bulgarian nature. There are usually about 17 - 18 sunny days throughout the whole month. There will be some days with heavier clouds, but you can expect only 5 - 6 of those days. However, the second half of September starts showing the first signs of the oncoming autumn. Winds blowing from north and west gradually become stronger and significantly lower temperatures by the end of the month.

The month is relatively dry, and the rainfall reaches about 30 - 50 liters per square meter in the lower lands. The amount doubles for mountain areas. But don’t worry, even if it rains, it will mostly be in the second part of September so you can plan for it. You have the first two weeks to make the most of the weather.

Should you visit Bulgaria’s coast in September?

Yes, you should absolutely come for a visit! The weather conditions are still great for a summer vacation. Temperatures in the bigger cities are just a few degrees lower than during the peak season. Standing in the shade will feel a bit chillier than during the previous few months due to winds picking up. However, a pleasant breeze will be appreciated, especially if you decide to rest on the beach. After a hot July and August on the coast, it is pleasant to experience September, which is a combination of both. Just remember that the first 10 days of September are the best for your visit to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
